Of the two, you’ll find that the realme Note 50 is the cheaper option, if only by just a couple of tens of ringgit. Its 4GB+128GB variant is less expensive than the Redmi A3; cheaper still if you opt 64GB storage. There is a microSD card slot on both devices, with the Redmi A3 supporting up to 1TB additional storage and the realme Note 50 supporting up to 2TB.
It goes without saying that you can’t expect flagship performance when it comes to budge devices. Still, you’ll get decent enough power on both with the Helio G36 on the Redmi A3 and the UNISOC T612 on the realme Note 50.
It’s an even playing field even on displays with both offering HD+ (720p) resolution and 90Hz refresh rates. The realme Note 50 does have the higher peak brightness no paper, but the 60nits difference will probably be unnoticeable. One feature to keep in mind is the Gorilla Glass protection on the Redmi A3, making it the more durable and sturdier option.
Regardless, you’ll have a 5,000mAh battery to keep things running with support for 10W wired charging.
With much of the features in the balance, the deciding factor may very well come down to aesthetics. This is a purely personal choice, however, the Redmi A3 does come in more colours, including a Forest Green option with leather-like texture on the rear panels.
