Redmi 9T, the new and improved POCO M3

Launched in Malaysia on 8th January 2021, the Redmi 9T is pretty much a rebadge of the POCO M3 phone. They both share an almost identical built and specifications.

Nevertheless, there are some minor improvements to the ram and camera set found on the Redmi 9T which we’ll be covering in this article.

1. Improved Ram

While the 64GB + 4GB ram variant (priced at RM599) is exactly the same as the POCO M3, the 128GB variant offers a slight bump to a 6GB Ram. This slight bump will definitely go a long way for avid mobile gamers.

2. Improved Camera Set

Once again, the camera set on the Redmi 9T is almost identical to the POCO M3 with a 48MP main camera, 2MP macro and 2MP depth. What’s new is an additional 8MP ultrawide lens for added versatility for photography lovers. This slight improvement does make the phone more well-rounded rather than being a gaming centric device.

Final Thoughts

Yes, indeed those are the only two major differences between both devices. In terms of pricing, the Redmi 9T (128GB + 6GB) priced at RM699 is only several ringgit more than the POCO M3 (128GB + 4GB) priced at RM639. With that being said, you’ll probably find more value in the Redmi 9T.
