Redmi 13: Glass back design, 108MP main camera, RM699 only
Xiaomi has expanded its line of affordable smartphones with the latest Redmi 13. The Redmi 13 succeeds the Redmi 12 of last year, with the new iteration boasting upgrades in cameras, charging speeds, and RAM options.
Already available for purchase in Malaysia, the Redmi 13 retails at just RM699 for the 8GB+256GB variant. The smartphone is purchasable online at mi.com, or on Xiaomi’s official stores on Shopee and Lazada. Alternatively, you can also get them at authorized Xiaomi stores nationwide.
Design wise, the Redmi 13 retains the classy glass back design introduced on last year’s model. Powering the smartphone is the MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra, with performance helped by 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. An additional 8GB RAM can be piled on via memory extension technology, and storage is expandable up to 1TB via MicroSD. Unlike last year’s model, there is no 4GB RAM option.
The Redmi 13 sports a 6.79″ Full HD+ (2460×1080) display offering 90Hz refresh rates and 550nits peak brightness – all protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass. Eye protection too gets accounted for with the displays receiving Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, and Circadian Friendly certifications from TUV Rheinland.
Although the Redmi 13 no longer has a triple camera array, the main camera has received a considerable boost with a 108MP lens with 3x in-sensor zoom (vs. the 50MP main on the Redmi 12). Alongside this is a 2MP macro camera. Elsewhere on the front is a 13MP selfie shooter.
Battery capacity is now slightly larger at 5,030mAh, the real improvement being that charging speeds has almost doubled to 33W compared to last year’s 18W.
The device also maintains the IP53 rating for dust and water resistant.
The Redmi 13 is available in Midnight Black, Sandy Gold, Pearl Pink, and Ocean Blue.
