Razer Pro Type Ergo: Split-layout ergonomic wireless keyboard, priced at RM829

Having previously launched their ergonomic Pro Click V2 and V2 Vertical Edition mice, Razer is finally following up with an ergonomic keyboard. The Razer Pro Type Ergo is an ergonomic wireless keyboard designed for the gamer at a corporate job, with a focus on making long hours at a desk feel more natural and less fatiguing

The most notable feature of the Razer Pro Type Ergo is perhaps its split keyboard layout, akin to the popular Alice layout that’s popular in the custom keyboard scene. It’s been sculpted with a 10° slope for optimal wrist posture, and the split ergo layout offers a more natural resting position for your hands and arms, reducing lateral movement and reducing strain. There are also multiple tilt angles for more fine-tuned comfort.

Using a split layout does come with some extra oddities compared to a regular keyboard of course. While a usual Alice split layout has two half sized keyboards, Razer added a third mini space bar between the two half space bars, which can be set as a backspace key for quick corrections without interrupting your flow. There’s also two B keys, as is the case on an Alice layout.

As for the keys themselves, they are scissor-switch membranes, with ultra low profile keycaps that have spherical indents for even more comfort and precision when typing. There’s a built-in plush wrist rest too for wrist support. And being a Razer product of course means it comes with Chroma RGB backlighting that can be personalised.

For even more productivity, the Razer Pro Type Ergo features 5 dedicated macro keys, a dedicated mic-mute button and the Razer Command Dial directly on the keyboard. You can use the pre-configured functions for common tasks such as media control and navigation, while in certain apps such as Adobe Illustrator or Premiere Pro or even just Microsoft Teams, they can be used to bring up common workflows. You’ll need Razer Synapse though if you want to program your own macros.

Other features of note include support for Bluetooth, wired or USB dongle wireless connection via Razer HyperSpeed Wireless with 1000Hz polling rate, 5-way multi device connectivity and a rated battery life of up to 3 months on a single charge.

The Razer Pro Type Ergo is priced at RM829, and is already available for purchase on the Razer Malaysia website as well as their partnered retailers nationwide.
