Ramadan Recipes: Make Your Favourite Kuih Raya At Home

Honey Cornflakes
A must-have at all gatherings and open houses, honey cornflakes is a classic Ramadan recipe. They’re the cutest bite-sized treats that you can just pop in your mouth while chatting away with your relatives. Crispy and sweet, you can never have too many of these.
Ingredients:
- 60g of butter
- 85g of honey
- 1 ½ tbsp of castor sugar
- 125g of cornflakes
- Mini paper cups
Instructions:
- In a pot over low heat, mix butter, honey, and sugar until well combined.
- In a bowl, crush the cornflakes into smaller pieces.
- Pour the glaze mixture into the bowl and mix until the cornflakes are evenly coated.
- Scoop them into the mini cups until finished.
- Pop them in the oven for 15 minutes at 150°C.
- Once the timer is up, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool. Transfer to an airtight container to store and serve.
If you’d like to give this Ramadan recipe a festive feel, just garnish the top of the honey cornflakes with rainbow sprinkles, and ta-da!
Biskut Semperit Susu
Yet another popular Ramadan Recipe, the biskut semperit susu. Easy to make with only five ingredients, these cookies are perfectly crumbly and will just melt in your mouth. These are highly addictive, so be sure to not finish them before serving to your guests!
Ingredients:
- 250g of butter, room temperature
- 230g of condensed milk
- 400g of cornflour
- 2 tbsp of castor flour
- Cherries (for garnishing)
Instructions:
- Combine butter and condensed milk in a bowl.
- Add cornflour and castor flour, mixing the ingredients until they’re well incorporated and form a dough.
- Using your hands, knead the dough until smooth. The dough should not stick to your hands.
- Separate the dough into sections and insert it into the mould, pressing the dough into shape.
- Arrange the cookies neatly onto a greased baking sheet and garnish with either cherries or chocolate chips, depending on your preference.
- Set aside to rest for 30 minutes.
- Pop it into the oven to bake at 160°C for 25 minutes.
- After 25 minutes, remove from oven to cool, and transfer to an airtight container for storage and to serve.
Instead of cherries, you can also opt to place chocolate chips over the top for this Ramadan recipe.
Makmur Cookies
These little nutty delicacies are a popular Ramadan recipe. Filled with crushed toasted peanuts on the inside and dusted with icing sugar on the outside, Makmur cookies are fun to eat and easy to make.
Ingredients:
- 500g of all-purpose flour
- 200g of ghee
- 100g of roasted peanuts, crushed
- 50g of castor sugar
- Icing sugar (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 190°C.
- In a bowl, add flour and ghee, mixing until it reaches a crumbly consistency.
- Scoop up a marble-sized dough, making a dent in the middle for 1 teaspoon worth of crushed peanuts.
- Wrap the dough, enclosing the filling.
- Squeeze and shape it tightly.
- Pop in the oven to bake for 20 minutes.
- After 20 minutes, transfer to a wire rack to cool and dust with icing sugar.
- Transfer to an airtight container for storage and to serve!
