Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Plus: 80 TOPS NPU, up to 35% faster single core performance

By Raymond Saw January 6, 2026

Having already launched the Snapdragon X2 Elite late last year, at CES 2026 Qualcomm has followed it up by launching the Snapdragon X2 Plus lineup too. These are their midrange system-on-chips for Windows on Snapdragon, with two variants revealed now though we expect more in the future. There’s the 10-core Snapdragon X2P-64-100 and the 6-core Snapdragon X2P-42-100.

Both are built using TSMC’s N3P process node with their newest Oryon-based architecture for the CPU cores. The Snapdragon X2P-64-100 features six prime cores and four performance cores, while the X2P-42-100 gets just six prime cores. Both SoCs feature boost speeds of up to 4.04GHz in single core and up to 4.0GHz in multicore loads, along with a Hexagon NPU capable of up to 80 TOPS.

According to Qualcomm, the X2P-64-100 will be able to perform up to 35% better in single-core workloads compared to its X1 Plus counterpart, with up to 17% faster multicore performance. The X2P-42-100 meanwhile should offer the same single core improvements, though the smaller number of cores means just a 10% improvement in multicore performance. Qualcomm also boasts improved efficiency, using up to 43% less power then the previous generation.

Other features include a new X2-45 Adreno GPU, with the X2-64-100 getting a faster 1.7GHz GPU compared to the X2-42-100’s 0.9GHz. You’ll also find support for up to 128GB of LPDDR5X memory, while the Qualcomm FastConecct 7800 modem provides support for up to WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless connectivity.

“Modern professionals and creators want to do more, create more, and push the limits of generative AI and all-day performance. Snapdragon X2 Plus platform delivers the power, efficiency and intelligence to surpass their ambitions, making each experience more responsive and personal,” – Kedar Kondap, Qualcomm SVP and GM of computing and gaming

You can expect to see laptops powered by the Snapdragon X2 Plus soon from their OEM partners, with some of them—the HP OmniBook lineup—already showcasing them at CES.
