The highly anticipated Proton e.MAS 5 – touted to be the nation’s “most affordable EV” – will officially open for bookings.

This was confirmed on the Proton e.MAS Car’s official Facebook page, which stated that bookings for the EV will be available via livestream on 4th October 2025, at 8 PM. For those interested, the livestream will be broadcast on Proton’s official Facebook and TikTok pages.

To recap, the e.MAS 5 is a hatchback and will be available in two variants: the Prime model with a 30.12 kWh battery, 250 km WLTP range, 79 PS, and 130 Nm motor; and the series-topping Premium model, which boasts a 40.16 kWh battery, 325 km WLTP range, 116 PS, and a 150 Nm motor.

Moreover, the EV will feature a 14.6″ 1080p touchscreen and will support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also plenty of space for baggage with a 375L boot and a 70L frunk.

The e.MAS 5 will mark Proton’s second entry into the EV segment, following the e.MAS 7, which launched in December 2024.

Proton has not yet confirmed the price of the e.MAS 5, but reports suggest it could be priced below RM85,000.

In comparison, the e.MAS 7 electric SUV, which also comes in Prime and Premium variants, is priced at RM105,800 and RM119,800, respectively.
