Pornhub suffers data breach, Premium members affected
If you’re a Premium member of the adult video platform Pornhub, there’s some hard news for you to swallow. The site has recently reported that they were a victim of a cybersecurity incident, and that some Pornhub Premium users have been affected.
Specifically, it involves data from a third party data analytics service provider Mixpanel. It seems that an unauthorised party gained access to analytics data stored with Mixpanel. According to Pornhub, the unauthorised party was able to use this access to extract a limited set of analytics events on some users.
The adult content platform also clarified that this was not a breach of their Premium systems itself. As such, no passwords, credentials, payment details or government IDs were compromised or exposed.
Pornhub has since secured the affected account and stopped the unauthorised party from access to this data. They’ve also launched a comprehensive internal investigation together with their cybersecurity experts. On top of that, they’ve gotten in touch with relevant authorities as well as Mixpanel to divulge information about the data breach, and are continuing to determine the scope of the incident.
In the meantime, if you’re a Pornhub Premium member, the platform encourages you to remain vigilant by monitoring your accounts for any suspicious or unusual activity.
