Does the Pixel 6 series live up to its hype? let’s find out!
Pros & Cons of the Pixel 6 Pro
Here’s a quick summary of all the pros and cons of the Pixel 6 series:
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
• Powerful Google Tensor Processor. Though it is lagging behind slightly in multi-core and 3D mock graphics test, the processor is highly energy efficient and performs all tasks smoothly. [GeekBench Results: 1 | 2] | • No facial recognition for screen unlock |
• Great photography cameras with excellent dynamic range & low-light performance | • Poor video stabilization and overall sub-par video quality |
• Excellent 4x Optical Zoom | • No macro camera |
• Exciting camera features: Magic Eraser, Astrophotography, Action Pan & Long Exposure modes | • Inconsistent processing for low light photography |
• Uses AI to omit background wind sound when recording audio | |
• Excellent battery life | |
• Attractive price point of US$599 – US$1,099 |
Overall, the Pixel 6 series is a well-built smartphone with great all around performance but falls slightly short in the videography department.
The first iteration of the Google Tensor did not disappoint. Aside from its ability to run resource heavy games like Genshin Impact smoothly, its performance is also widely observed in its ability to enhance photos through post-processing.
While it is claimed to be ‘The most advanced Pixel Camera ever’, the new camera bar, though aesthetically pleasing, was ultimately a let down.

Final Thoughts
Despite delivering great value, the Pixel 6 series in our opinion did not live up to its hype. Don’t get us wrong, the Pixel 6 does offer a significant amount of improvements as expected from any flagship devices. Unfortunately, nothing truly ‘wow-ed’ us despite Google’s best efforts.
Nevertheless, the Pixel 6 series is still an easy recommendation for anyone who prefers a device with built-in stock Android and a promised 5 years security updates for a peace of mind.
Unfortunately, the Pixel 6 series is not released in Malaysia. Nevertheless, if you’d like to purchase a unit, you can check out TechBug to purchase a unit from the USA.
