Perodua QV-E Debuts as Malaysia’s First Homegrown Electric Vehicle, Priced at RM80,000

Perodua has officially launched the Perodua QV-E, its first fully electric vehicle and what it claims is Malaysia’s first fully homegrown EV. Priced at RM80,000 on-the-road without insurance, the QV-E also introduces a new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, allowing buyers to own the vehicle while leasing the battery directly from Perodua.
Larger Than the Ativa, Positioned in the B-Segment Crossover Class

The QV-E measures 4,170 mm (L), 1,800 mm (W), 1,502 mm (H) with a 2,680 mm wheelbase, making it slightly larger than the Perodua Ativa. Its dimensions place it alongside other B-segment electric crossovers, including the BYD Atto 2, Omoda E5 and Mazda CX-30.
The exterior is designed with sportback proportions, a sloping roofline, and blacked-out side pillars for a sleek, modern aesthetic. A split LED headlight setup, full-width front and rear light bars, and sequential turn signals complete the high-tech look. In fact, it looks rather similar to the Toyota C-HR.
Exterior Highlights
- LED headlights with auto on/off
- Full-width LED front DRL light bar
- LED taillights with full-width rear light bar
- Sequential turn signals
- 18-inch wheels
- Auto-retractable side mirrors
- Integrated roof spoiler
- Flush door handles
Tech-Focused Interior with Dual 10.25-Inch Displays

Inside, the QV-E features a tech-heavy cabin with two 10.25-inch displays, one for the digital instrument cluster and another for infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A two-spoke steering wheel, wireless charging pad, and a double-layered centre console with increased storage space highlight Perodua’s EV-focused cabin redesign.

204 hp Electric Motor with Up to 445 km NEDC Range

Powering the QV-E is a single front-mounted motor producing 204 hp (150 kW) and 285 Nm of torque, enabling a 0 to 100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds and a 165 km/h top speed. The EV uses a CATL-supplied 52.5 kWh LFP battery with an estimated 445 km NEDC range.
Charging Options

- 60 kW DC fast charging: 30 to 80% in 30 minutes
- Vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability for powering external devices

Enhanced Safety with New CPD System and Perodua Smart Drive Assist

The QV-E introduces several firsts for Perodua, including Child Presence Detection (CPD) and integrated eCall/SOS emergency functions. Standard safety features include six airbags, a surround view camera, front and rear sensors, and a built-in driving video recorder.

Battery-as-a-Service: RM125 Monthly, Lifetime Battery Warranty

Perodua’s new BaaS model requires buyers to sign a 9-year battery lease at RM125 per month. Customers own the vehicle but lease the battery through the P-Circle app, even after their hire purchase ends.
Battery Leasing Benefits
- Perodua covers battery insurance
- Lifetime warranty: battery replacement when SoH drops below 70%
- Lower upfront cost and lower insurance premiums
- Improved resale value via Perodua Pre-Owned Vehicles
- Proper end-of-life battery disposal handled by Perodua
- The next owner must sign a new battery lease agreement upon resale.
Pricing and Availability
The QV-E is built at Perodua’s new Smart Mobility Plant under Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd. CEO Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad says the company can produce 500 units per month at first, rising to 3,000 units monthly by Q3 2026.
The QV-E, which stands for Quest for Visionary Electric Vehicle (pronounced as ‘queue-vee’, rhymes with Myvi), is priced at RM80,000 on-the-road without insurance, and will be available in Ice Blue and Caviar Gray colorways. Do keep in mind that the aforementioned sum excludes the EV battery, which is leased to car owners in what Perodua calls Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), with a lifetime warranty. The monthly subscription fee is RM275, to be paid together with your monthly instalment in a single payment.
Here’s a rough calculation of how much you need to pay per month, based on 2% interest rate with no downpayment:
- 9 years: RM874 + RM275 = RM1,149
- 7 years: RM1,086 + RM275 = RM1,361
- 5 years: RM1,467 + RM275 = RM1,742
Perodua has its reasons for this novel scheme, which it says addresses major EV concerns such as battery replacement costs and poor resale value. There’s also the issue of safe disposal. With it owning the ‘liability’ of the EV, Perodua says that QV-E users will have peace of mind. Speaking of peace of mind, it will come with a 3 year / 100,000km vehicle warranty as well as a 6-year / 150,000km body warranty.
Although branded as Malaysia’s first fully homegrown EV, Perodua confirms that localisation levels will increase to over 50% by early 2026 and 70% by 2030, with 52 local vendors already involved and plans to grow to 70 suppliers.
