The OPPO X 2021 was first unveiled back in November 2020 during the Oppo Inno Day 2020. The device is OPPO’s step into the third generation of foldable smartphones to compete against the Samsung Z Fold2 and Huawei Mate X2.
Instead of a foldable design as seen in the Z Fold 2 and Mate X2, OPPO introduces a rollable concept. With this design, OPPO is able to eliminate any crease on the screen from the folding.
Following a period of silence since its initial unveiling, OPPO recently released a new video that details the technology behind the rollable design.
At the initial unveiling, many speculated that mass production of the device was still unfeasible in the near future. With the release of the video, it hints that we could be closer than we initially thought.
Xiaomi has just launched its Mi 11 model in Malaysia and is now available for pre-orders till 10th March.
The Mi 11 is an impressive device and is available at an attractive price of RM2,799. Perhaps most hyped about the device is its Snapdragon 888 processor.
The Mi 11 is the first smartphone device to feature this largely anticipated processor. In addition to that, the Mi 11 also offers an impressive WQHD+ display and a power 108MP triple camera set.
On paper, the Mi 11 is clearly ahead of the pack in both features and pricing. And in our opinion, it is definitely one of the best flagship phone in the market currently if not the best.
To those who are concerned, Mi 11 does support Google Mobile Services (GMS) in Malaysia. Perhaps the only other concern shared by many is the absence of an IP68 rating on the Mi 11.
In other words, the Mi 11 does not claim to be dust or water resistant. This is in fact quite rare for higher-end flagship phones not to include such protection.
Nevertheless, a youtuber by the name of Frankie Tech took it upon himself to test and see if the Mi 11 could withstand minor splashes.
Based on his experiment, Mi 11 users can rest assure that minor contact with water will most likely not cause any damage to the device. With that being said, we do discourage any users from submerging their devices in water.
Extras:
1. 55W GaN charger included
The Mi 11 comes complete with a fast-charging 55W GaN in the box! Forget about cutting cost, Xiaomi wants you to have the best experience possible.
With this charger, you’ll be able to charge the 4,600mAh battery from 0 – 100% in 45minutes!
2. Anti-Bacterial Case and Screen Protector Included
In addition to the 55W GaN charger, Xiaomi is also providing all users with an anti-bacterial clear case and screen protector to keep users safe throughout the pandemic.
3. First to Feature the MIUI 12.5
Following the release of MIUI 12 in May 2020, the intermediate 12.5 update is now ready and will be featured on the Mi 11 device.
The main focus and changes of the MIUI 12.5 is enhanced performance by rendering a dedicated core to manage and prioritize gestures.
Aside from that, MIUI will also grant users the option to delete most pre-installed system apps on the device. As for apps that are written on the system core, users will have the option to hide the icons should they choose not to use it.
The MIUI 12.5 will be rolled out to more than 11 different Xiaomi devices late of Q2 2021.
