OPPO Find N5 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Spec comparison

OPPO’s latest flagship foldable, the Find N5, has made headway into Malaysia under well-merited spotlight. Apart from boasting Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite CPU, the Find N5 is the thinnest foldable to date with a 4.21mm slim form factor when unfolded, wresting that title away from the HONOR Magic V3 (4.35mm unfolded).
With a whole host of flagship features in its engine, the OPPO Find N5 makes the case of being one of, if not the most popular foldable in the market. That is, if they can best the longstanding reputation of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series.
If a foldable is in your sights, and you’ve narrowed down your choices to just these two options, here’s how they stack up.

There’s a few major key points to consider before cashing in, and one of them is price. The Z Fold 6 does give you a bit of flexibility by offering three configurations, while the Find N5 comes in a single 16GB/512GB model. Taking that into consideration, if you’re absolutely certain on a 512GB model, topping up an extra RM100 for the Find N5’s bigger RAM seems the more sensible option. If its 1TB storage you need, then the Z Fold 6 takes precedent, but note the hefty price tag.

Price aside, the OPPO Find N5 provides larger real estate in both its cover and internal displays. As a bar phone, the Find N5 offers slightly more with a 6.62″ display (vs. the 6.3″ on the Z Fold 6), more so when unfolded to reveal its 8.12″ internal screen (vs. 7.6″ unfolded on the Z Fold 6). The difference isn’t colossal, but if you’re on the “bigger is better” camp, you’ll probably find more joy with the OPPO Find N5.
It’s also worth noting that OPPO’s foldable offers both higher resolution and brightness, which all adds up to a better display, in my opinion.

On paper, cameras are identical between the Find N5 and Z Fold 6. Based off megapixels alone, they are pretty much equal. However, smartphone cameras rely heavily on computational processing, which is where we reach subjective territory. For what it’s worth, popular tech reviewer Mrwhosetheboss gives the cameras an equal rating, commending the Find N5’s 50MP telephoto and the Z Fold 6’s portrait processing.

Batteries are where we see a clear divide. The 5,600mAh silicon-carbon is a far more enticing option than the Z Fold6’s 4,400mAh lithium-ion battery. However, because the Snapdragon 8 Elite on the OPPO is a far more power-taxing chip, you can expect battery life to be similar with the Z Fold 6.
Where the divide happens is in charging speeds. The OPPO Find N5, even with a bigger battery, will charge quicker thanks to its 80W wired charging. It even supports faster 50W wireless charging if you have supporting wireless docks. The Z Fold 6, on the other hand, lacks severely with 25W wired charging and even slower 15W wireless charging.

Not all is bad on the Z Fold 6 though. For one, it has an IP rating for dust resistance, which for some reason the OPPO lacks. Additionally, Samsung also promises 7 years of Android and security updates, meaning you can expect the Z Fold 6 to receive crucial Android updates until 2031. For the long-term, the Z Fold 6 looks a better investment.
Which foldable suits you is highly dependent on personal preference. On the spec sheet, the OPPO Find N5 looks to have blown Galaxy Z Fold 6 out of the water. At the same time, we wouldn’t blame you if you opt for the Z Fold 6 solely based on Samsung’s longstanding reliability and consistency.
