OpenSys launches Horizon Series, Malaysia’s first locally made cash recycling self-service banking platform

OpenSys (M) Berhad has announced Horizon Series, a new self-service banking platform designed to help banks modernise branch operations through cash recycling, automation, and modular digital services. It launched today with a partnership signing ceremony between OpenSys Technologies Sdn Bhd and Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd (OKI) at Bangsar South.
According to OpenSys, the Horizon Series is the first cash recycling self-service banking platform designed and manufactured in Malaysia, developed by OpenSys Technologies and powered by OKI’s globally deployed cash recycling technology.
Cash recycling allows deposited cash to be reused for withdrawals, helping banks improve cash utilisation while reducing idle cash, replenishment frequency, cash-in-transit costs and insurance expenses. By combining deposit and withdrawal functions into a single device, banks can also reduce the number of machines per branch and improve uptime in high-traffic locations.

The Horizon Series is positioned as an enterprise-grade, modular platform rather than a fixed-function ATM or cash deposit machine. Banks can roll out core cash services first and later add features such as cheque deposits, instant card issuance, payments and digital services as well as biometric authentication. Importantly, these upgrades can be enabled without replacing hardware, allowing banks to extend asset lifespan and reduce future capital expenditure.
“The Horizon Series is designed to help banks improve cash economics while rethinking the role of self-service in a digital-first banking environment.
It provides a resilient, upgradeable platform that allows financial institutions to consolidate operations, expand services, and adapt over time without repeated infrastructure replacement,” – Denis Koay, OpenSys Group Chief Commercial Officer and Co-CEO
OpenSys says the platform supports the evolution of self-service terminals into interactive banking touchpoints. With integrated digital services and remote assistance, banks can offer more complex transactions via self-service channels, reduce reliance on in-branch staff and extend service availability beyond traditional banking hours.
The Horizon Series will be commercially available from January 2026, with configurations tailored to local regulatory and operational requirements across the region. For more information, you can head over to the OpenSys website.
