NVIDIA to Invest $1 Billion in Nokia to Accelerate AI and 6G Innovation

NVIDIA has announced a $1 billion equity investment in Nokia, marking a significant move to strengthen collaboration in AI, cloud, and next-generation network technologies. The investment positions the two companies at the forefront of the AI-driven 6G transformation.
What Exactly is NVIDIA Investing on for Nokia?

Under the agreement, Nokia will issue 166,389,351 new shares to NVIDIA at a subscription price of $6.01 per share, giving the U.S. chipmaker a 2.9% ownership stake in the Finnish telecom giant. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions.
Nokia stated that proceeds from the issuance will be used to accelerate its strategic roadmap, including advancing “trusted connectivity for the AI supercycle” and supporting other corporate initiatives.
Boosting 5G, 6G, and AI Network Development

As part of the expanded partnership, Nokia plans to enhance its 5G and 6G Radio Access Network (RAN) software to run on NVIDIA’s AI computing architecture. The company also intends to expand its footprint in the AI and cloud markets by developing data center-aligned networking solutions.
Beyond the investment, NVIDIA and Nokia will collaborate on AI networking technologies, exploring opportunities to integrate Nokia’s data center switching and optical innovations into NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure platforms.
T-Mobile U.S. Joins the AI-RAN Initiative

In a related development, T-Mobile U.S. will work alongside NVIDIA and Nokia to test and advance AI-RAN (Artificial Intelligence Radio Access Network) technologies. The trials, expected to start next year, aim to validate performance improvements and energy efficiency for future 6G networks.
The next leap in telecom isn’t just from 5G to 6G — it’s a fundamental redesign of the network to deliver AI-powered connectivity. Our partnership with NVIDIA and their investment in Nokia will accelerate AI-RAN innovation, bringing the power of AI data centers closer to every user.
Justin Hotard, Nokia CEO.
Hotard added that Nokia’s first AI-RAN deployments with T-Mobile U.S. and Dell Technologies will ensure that the United States remains a leader in advanced AI-driven connectivity.

Telecommunications is a critical national infrastructure — the digital nervous system of our economy and security. Built on NVIDIA CUDA and AI, AI-RAN represents a generational platform shift that will empower the U.S. to regain global leadership in network technology. Together with Nokia and America’s telecom ecosystem, we’re building intelligent, adaptive networks that define the next generation of global connectivity.
