nubia Music, a smartphone with speakers larger than its cameras, launches at RM389

Is it an iPod? Is a walkman? Nope, it’s the new nubia Music smartphone.

Not long after the launch of its camera-centric Focus Pro 5G, nubia has now decided that a music-centric smartphone is the way to go, hence the launch of the latest nubia Music.

The nubia Music officially retails at RM389 in Malaysia, and is available via authorized distributors such as SS Solution on Shopee.

Keeping to its soulful music theme, the nubia Music comes spruced in a classic vinyl record player design with speakers larger than both its camera lenses combined. You’ll find those massive speakers on the rear panels (which might be the first on a smartphone) next to the cameras, and the reason it takes THAT much real estate is because it needs to support its 600% DTS:X-enhanced volume.

There’s also musical light effects to go with it; the first located around the ultra speaker, and the other you’ll find as an on-screen effect on the displays.

If, understandably, you’re being told to lower the volume, you can simply plug your headphones into any one of its two 3.5mm headphone jack located at the top end of the smartphone. Also, unlike most smartphones that requires wired headphones to act as antennas to access radio channels, the nubia Music is equipped with a built-in FM antenna which allows for direct connection to radio frequencies.

Now to the more conventional smartphone-related specs, the nubia Music runs on an octa-core processor, with a single 4GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration.

Its displays are 6.6″ large, offering HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rates. On the rear panels next to the speakers are its dual cameras consisting of a 50MP main, and an unspecified secondary camera. Elsewhere on the front is a 5MP selfie shooter.

Keeping all these running is a 5,000mAh battery supporting 10W charging.

The nubia Music comes in two design options: Zeal Orange and Violet (Pop Art design).
