Nothing teases Phone (2a) ‘is coming’

It seems like Nothing’s got something up their sleeves in 2024 after confirming the imminent launch of the new Phone (2a).

Rumours about the Phone (2a) has been circulating for some periods now, which gathered even more hype after Carl Pei tweeted a somewhat cryptic post on X with the image of the Pokémon Aerodactyl.

Today, Nothing itself has finally broke the news online, namely over X and Instagram. And, if you’re wondering where Aerodactyl plays its part in all this, Akis Evangelidis, the co-founder of Nothing, reveals that Aerodactyl is the product codename for the Phone (2a). Nothing often codenames their smartphones. It was Spacewar with the Phone (1), and Pong with the Phone (2).

The Phone (2a) is not expected to be a flagship offering akin to the Phone (2). According to the Nothing Community Update, Akis clarified that the Phone (2a) will leverage some of the most loved features of the Phone (2) “while ensuring it delivers on a clear upgrade compared to Phone (1) on every single front.”

For now though, that’s as far back as they’re willing to draw the curtains. Everything else is kept under wraps, including the design and hardware. There are plenty of leaks online, but nothing can really be confirmed just yet.
