Nothing Plans AirDrop Compatibility for Its Phones After Google’s Pixel-Only Quick Share Update

Nothing is wasting no time responding to Google’s latest move. Following Google’s announcement that Android Quick Share now works with Apple AirDrop, albeit limited to the Pixel 10 series, Nothing’s founder and CEO Carl Pei revealed that the company is already exploring how to bring the same cross‑platform sharing capability to its own devices.

Nothing’s Ambition to Bridge Android and iOS

Carl Pei confirmed that his tech company is actively investigating ways to enable AirDrop compatibility on Nothing phones. While details remain scarce, the company’s swift reaction signals its intent to position Nothing as one of the first Android brands outside Google to offer seamless file sharing with iPhones.

Why This Matters for Nothing Users

  • Cross‑platform convenience: Sharing files between Android and iOS could become as simple as tapping Quick Share or AirDrop.
  • Competitive edge: By adopting this feature early, Nothing could stand out among Android manufacturers.
  • User experience: If Nothing’s solution mirrors Google’s, it won’t require extra steps. Files from Android will appear in Quick Share, and files from iOS will show up in AirDrop.

Currently, Google’s integration is exclusive to the Pixel 10 family, with no confirmation on whether it will expand to other Android devices. Historically, Google has rolled out Pixel‑exclusive features before making them available more broadly, but for now, Nothing is taking matters into its own hands.

Their quick response highlights its ambition to keep pace with Google and deliver features that matter to users. If successful, Nothing could become the first non‑Pixel brand to offer AirDrop compatibility, making file sharing between Android and iOS smoother than ever.
