By Timothy Teoh March 7, 2025

After its global unveiling on 4 March, the Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro has officially arrived in Malaysia. Upon launch, the Phone (3a) series rightfully grabbed headlines with its unique design and improved hardware.

Nothing had only revealed the price of the phones in USD, British Pound and Euros in the global launch. Now, we officially have the pricing in MYR.

First things first, though Nothing announced the Phone (3a) Series in an 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB configuration, Malaysia will only receive one of the two configurations, with the chosen pairing being the 12GB/256GB model.

As for the official price tag, the Phone (3a) will retail at RM1,699, while the Phone (3a) Pro will retail at RM1,999. The phones will be up for pre-orders starting 8 March 2025 at Nothing Malaysia’s official website, or on Nothing’s official platforms on Shopee and Lazada. To sweeten the deal, Nothing is offering freebies for customers who pre-order, including a Nothing Crossbody Bag, a phone casing, and a pair of CMF Buds.

Open sales for the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro will begin 22 March and 7 April respectively.

Nothing Phone (3a) Pro

We covered the Nothing Phone (3a) series when it launched a few days ago, but we’ll give a quick recap here.

The Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro share many of the same features and hardware but are easily distinguishable by their camera setups. The base model Phone (3a) sports a simple horizontal layout, while its Pro sibling’s arrangement is somewhat asymmetrical (some would say messy).

The difference goes beyond just camera layout. The Phone (3a)’s cameras consist of a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Meanwhile, the Phone (3a) Pro undoubtedly received better treatment with a 50MP OIS periscope camera capable of 3x optical zoom, flanked by a similar 50MP main camera and 8MP ultra-wide lens.

Additionally, the Phone (3a) Pro features a better 50MP front camera, compared to the 32MP front shooter on the Phone (3a).

That’s ultimately the biggest difference in the series. Both phones are powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor and sport a 6.77″ AMOLED display offering FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rates.

They both also feature Nothing’s new Essential Key button, allowing users to capture what’s on screen, record voice notes, and access Essential Space. Essential Space is simply a repository for all screengrabs and voice notes captured with the Essential Key.

Keeping everything running is a 5,000mAh battery supporting 50W wired charging. Of course, you’ll also have the three-strip Glyph Interface, which remains unchanged from the Phone (2a).
