Nothing Phone (3) Leaves Plenty of Head-Scratching with New Glyph Matrix; Price Starts at £799

The much-anticipated, highly teased Nothing Phone (3) has finally made its entrance after two years in the making. Nothing’s latest flagship brings major overhauls in design and functionality, the most notable of which is the complete removal of the LED strips that made up the Glyph Interface.
What happened to the Glyph Interface?

The Glyph Interface is still there—just dressed in a completely new format. Now, there are no more flashy light strips, but a ‘Glyph Matrix’ circular display condensed to the top right of the rear panel. According to Nothing, the 25px x 25px Glyph Matrix promises greater functionality in a more visually cohesive format.
It maintains, or at least tries to maintain, the core functions of the classic GI—that is, it will light up for essential notifications, as well as indicate volume levels, battery levels, digital clocks, compass, stopwatch, and more. Nothing calls these ‘Glyph Toys.’

There’s also a clickable touchpoint installed in the rear panel that will cycle through the toys.
Aside from displaying key functions, you can also play mini-games like spin the bottle and rock-paper-scissors through the Glyph Matrix display.

The entire thing is a little head-scratching. I remember the Glyph Interface as a tool designed to minimize the need to pick up the phone. With flashy animations and dot matrix toys beaming on the Glyph Matrix, it kinda seems like it’s trying to pull us back into our phones.
Nothing Phone (3) Specs

Anyway, as previously confirmed by Carl Pei himself, the Phone (3) is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Its display is a 6.67″ AMOLED panel with a 1260×2800 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 4,500 nits peak brightness—all protected by Gorilla Glass 7i.
There’s a full-fledged camera array this time, consisting of a 50MP OIS main camera, a 50MP OIS periscope camera, and a 50MP ultra-wide. The front selfie camera also uses a 50MP lens. Additionally, the little red dot that appeared on previous Nothing Phones now lights up in video recording mode.

The Nothing Phone (3) runs on a 5,150mAh battery, supporting 65W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. The phone also offers flagship-level protection with an IP68 rating.
Unsurprisingly, Nothing’s Essential Key and Essential Space features are both integrated into the Phone (3). However, there’s a new Essential Search function that allows users to find apps, contacts, content, and even ask questions—all through the Essential Search bar.
Nothing Phone (3) price
Jaws dropped when Carl Pei revealed that the Phone (3)’s price would “land somewhere around £800.” It’s time to pick your chin off the floor and come to terms with reality:
The Nothing Phone (3) starts at £799 for the 12GB/256GB model and £899 for the 16GB/512GB variant. While the official pricing in Malaysia has yet to be revealed, the converted prices in MYR are RM4,616.35 and RM5,194.12, respectively.

Nothing Malaysia currently lists both configurations on the website. It’s also worth noting that the phone will ship with Nothing OS 3.5 and will come with 5 years of Android updates and 7 years of security patches.
