The Nothing Phone (3) will cost approximately RM4,500, says Nothing CEO Carl Pei

It is now mid-May and the earnest wait for the Nothing Phone (3) is at its crux. If you’ve been waiting to see what Nothing has up their sleeves, Nothing CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that the wait will end in the coming months.

Speaking at the Android Show: I/O Edition, the Nothing CEO confirmed that the “Phone (3) is coming this summer, and we’re going all in.” Though the phone was teasingly blurred out in the video, Carl assures that improvements will come in the form of “Premium materials, major performance upgrades, and software that really levels things up.”

Where it gets interesting is when he declared that the Phone (3) will be the brand’s “first true flagship smartphone,” which essentially hints at a much steeper price range than the Phone (2). And we weren’t wrong.

According to Carl Pei, the cost of the true flagship Nothing Phone (3) “will land somewhere around £800.” That’s approximately ~RM4,594.50 in Malaysia.

To jog your memory, the Phone (2) launched in 2023 with a RM2,999 starting price that pitched it against the upper mid-range to lower-flagship segment. With a price tag of around RM4,599, Nothing is going on the hunt for bigger, longstanding rivals within the flagship segment.

Some noteworthy competition within this price range includes the iPhone 16 Plus (starting price RM4,499), the OnePlus 13 (RM4,399), and the vivo X200 Pro (RM4,699). It’s also worth mentioning that the Galaxy S25 tops out at RM4,499.

With a price this exorbitant, we can expect some major overhauls in the spec sheet to match its “true flagship” identity. This could include a flagship processor like the Snapdragon 8 Elite or the Dimensity 9400 chip, as well as a full-fledged triple camera system.

With the Phone (3) now 2 years in the making, Nothing has had plenty of time to mull over its strategies. It seems the brand is now ready to take the next step up – but how it will be received by the market, only time will tell.

In the meantime, if you’re a die-hard Nothing loyalist – get your wallets out and prepare to part ways with a substantial chunk of your bank account.
