Nothing Phone (2) will have 4,700mAh battery; Global release set in July
Another piece of the puzzle has been revealed in regards to the highly anticipated Nothing Phone (2).
In an interview with Forbes, CEO of Nothing Tech, Carl Pei, revealed that the Nothing Phone (2) will launch in July. As to when exactly in July, we still don’t know yet.
This will be a global release, which means that the Phone (2) will be made available in all its targeted regions at the same time.
The Nothing team also shed light on another exclusive detail, that is, the Nothing Phone (2) will pack a 4,700mAh battery. It improves decently from the 4,500mAh battery on the Nothing Phone (1).
It wasn’t too long ago that Carl himself confirmed that the Phone (2) will run on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. In his Twitter thread, he asserts how the chipset will improve power consumption, camera capabilities, and network connectivity, among other details.
He’s again doubled down on his stance, asserting that the “Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a proven processor”, and how “the latest technology comes at a cost which isn’t always justified from a user benefit standpoint.”
This was in response as to why the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 – which was released in 2022 – was selected over the newer flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Carl added that “Choosing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 ensures that Phone (2) remains accessible while delivering a significantly improved experience compared to Phone (1).”
The Nothing Phone (1) had a relatively successful debut, selling close to 750,000 units worldwide. It had a breakthrough transparent design with a Glyph Interface unseen on any smartphone before.
In Malaysia, the Nothing Phone (1) had a starting price of RM2,399 when it was launched in July 2022.
From the way things are heading, it looks like the Nothing Phone (2) will carry a much steeper price tag as it looks to compete as a flagship offering in 2023.
