Carl Pei Confirms Nothing Phone (2) Will Have Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Chipset
Founder of Nothing Technology Limited, Carl Pei, took to Twitter recently to confirm that the Nothing Phone (2) will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.
This isn’t entirely fresh out of the oven. Prior to this, there have been heavy leaks surrounding the processor on the Phone (2), most notably from a Qualcomm source himself who inadvertently revealed the exact chipset on a now rectified LinkedIn post a couple of months ago.
Finally though, Carl Pei himself has made it official via a Twitter thread confirming the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and how it will improve performance on the Phone (2) over the Phone (1).
Overall, you can expect to see upgrades over several key areas. By virtue of an upgraded processor, Carl asserts that the Nothing Phone (2) will have improvements in power consumption, heat management, and network connectivity.
You can also expect camera capabilities to improve, with the Nothing Phone (2) offering RAW HDR and 4K video recording at 60fps.
You can see the full Twitter thread below.
To recap, the Nothing Phone (1) was released in July 2022 and immediately made waves with its groundbreaking transparent design. It also introduced what Nothing calls a Glyph Interface, which featured LED lights at the rear panel that lit up in sync with notifications.
Ultimately though, it was a mid-ranger utilizing a Snapdragon 778G+ chipset.
Now with confirmation of the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, it seems the Nothing Phone (2) will steer towards being a premium device.
According to the Nothing official website, the Nothing Phone (2) will be “Arriving summer 2023”, which is about June this year. We should expect official launch dates to be announced soon.
