Nothing’s Latest Ear (3) TWS Lets You Talk Through the Case with Built-in Super Mics

Nothing’s latest true wireless earbuds allow you to speak to the case. Well, actually, speak through the case. Though, for the unfamiliar, you might risk looking a little delusional whispering to it.
The Nothing Ear (3) is the latest addition to the brand’s audio lineup, succeeding not the Ear (2), which was released in 2023, but the Nothing Ear, which debuted last year. The naming conventions are odd, but the only thing you need to know is that the Ear (3) is the London-based brand’s newest flagship earbuds.

The Ear (3) features what they call a Super Mic housed within the charging case itself. Users can activate these microphones by pressing a TALK button located on the case, much like you would with a walkie-talkie. Nothing claims these mics use a dual-microphone system, which they say cuts through surrounding noise up to 95dB.
Apart from calls, the TALK button can also capture voice recordings, which will be automatically synced to Essential Space, provided you have the Phone (3), Phone (3a), or Phone (3a) Pro.

The buds themselves have microphones too—three directional mics in each earbud combined with a bone-conduction Voice Pickup Unit (VPU). These bone-conduction units pick up micro-vibrations from the jaw and ear canal, which are less affected by environmental noise, thereby achieving greater clarity.
In terms of audio quality, the Ear (3) is upgraded with 12mm dynamic drivers that deliver a richer, more natural sound. A redesigned diaphragm boosts bass response and treble, providing a wider soundstage, cleaner highs, and richer mids.

Moreover, it features Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC) up to 45dB, which continually adjusts every 600 milliseconds for consistent noise isolation. The Ear (3) supports Bluetooth 5.4 and the LDAC codec.
Other noteworthy details include its 55mAh battery, which provides up to 10 hours of non-ANC listening on a single charge, and 5.5 hours with ANC on. Combined with the charging case, the battery life extends up to 38 hours with ANC off, and 22 hours with ANC on.
Nothing says the Ear (3) case will take approximately 70 minutes to charge fully via USB Type-C. Interestingly, the case also supports wireless charging, which will take 120 minutes to fully charge.

The Ear (3) is still unmistakably a Nothing product, thanks to its transparent design language. It retains the squarish case design, but this time polished with metallic accents.
Each earbud is IP54-rated for resistance against dust, sweat, and light rain. As with other Nothing audio products, additional settings can be toggled via the Nothing X app.
