Nintendo Switch Sports: Get the Whole Family Moving! (2022)
The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch Sports game is finally coming this 29th April 2022! The successor to the previously popular Wii Sports, the game met with positive reviews from Nintendo fans during its online playtests back in February. Players got to try out tennis, bowling and chambara (Japanese sword fighting).
Like Wii Sports, Nintendo Switch Sports has a collection of fun minigames that can help you work up a sweat together with your friends and family. Read on to learn everything you need to know about Nintendo’s newest sports game.
Six Exciting Games to Work Up A Sweat
A sports collection to get the whole family moving, the Nintendo Switch Sports game has a total of six games you can swing, kick and spike to victory! So far, Nintendo has revealed that six games will be available in Nintendo Switch Sports at launch, with an additional seventh game coming in Fall 2020.
The game will include updated versions of fan-favourite minigames such as tennis and bowling and four other new games: soccer, badminton, chambara and volleyball. The second update coming this Fall will bring back another fan-favourite from the Wii series – golf.
Aim for the Pro League
Play with friends and family in the same location or elsewhere in the world with the Nintendo Switch Sports game. Play each sport online, or team up with a friend (couch co-op) to battle opponents in team sports like Volleyball and Tennis.
Bring out your competitive side and face off against opponents worldwide as you strive to reach the Pro League in every sport. When you play against opponents globally, you can redeem points for in-game rewards like outfits, sports accessories, gear, and much more to dress up your avatar.
Get Moving with Joy-Con Controllers
A main selling point of the Nintendo Switch is its dual wireless controllers. The two controllers enable the Switch to work as a hybrid device that can be played in handheld or docked mode. It’s also great that you do not have to purchase another accessory to play multiplayer games.
In the Nintendo Switch Sports game, controls are intuitive, and with controlled motions, so, you can curve your bowling ball, add a spin to a tennis shot, or even attach a Joy-Con to the Leg Strap to score a goal in a Soccer Shoot-Out.
The games are compatible with the regular Joy-Con controllers included with the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch OLED consoles. However, you will need a leg strap (included in physical copies of the game) to play soccer, and this feature will only be available in the first update arriving this summer.
