Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera Officially Lands in Malaysia at RM18,338 (Body Only)
Nikon has heeded popular demand for a compact version of its highly successful mirrorless Z9 flagship camera. Taking after the Z9, the Nikon Z8 is fine-tuned to hold all the good bits you had in the Z9, but built in a more portable and sturdy frame.
The Nikon Z8 will retail at RM18,338 for its body alone, and will jump up to RM22,608 with the addition of a 24-120mm f/4 kit lens.
The Z8 maintains several key technology and features from the Z9 to assure imaging quality is brought over. This includes the use of the EXPEED 7 processor engine, a 45MP Stacked CMOS Sensor, as well as Intelligent Autofocus built from deep learning. All packed in a smaller and lighter body.
The Nikon Z8 is a videographer’s device in every aspect. You’ll be able to record up to 125 minutes of 4K UHD/60p videos, or up to 90 minutes in 8K UHD/30p. The camera itself allows for 8K HDR time-lapse videos which will deliver astounding results when you’re perched atop a cloudy mountain waiting for sunrise.
The Z8 supports a variety of video file formats, ranging from 10-bit ProRes422 HQ, 12-bit RAW, and N-Log video file formats. Whether you’re a intrepid nature videographer or an aspiring creative director, the Nikon Z8 will cater to your post-processing preferences.
Aside from video recording, the Nikon Z8 is decked with pro-grade photo-taking features that makes it the dream camera for photographers. The Autofocus in particular highlights this. The Z8 Autofocus tracks up to 9 subjects at a time, ensuring all the important elements in a frame are kept sharp.
Furthermore, capturing fleeting moments is a breeze thanks to Pre-release Capture. What this does is it records images 1 second before the shutter button is fully pressed, and 4 seconds after. Photographers whose specialty is capturing split second moments will appreciate this, such as those in sports or weddings.
Nikon has also introduced a new Airplane mode as a subject tracking option, much to the benefit of enthusiastic aircraft spotters. Additionally, the Z8 has a AF detection range from -9 to 19 EV in Starlight view mode for those stellar night shots.
Spurring on your creative process is an 8cm touch-sensitive monitor with 4-axis vertical and horizontal tilting flexibility.
On top of all this, the Nikon Z8 will also be the first in the Z series to provide two USB terminals to support charging and file transfer. You’ll also have two card slots; one that supports CFexpress and XQD Card, and one for UHS-II SD card.
Once again, the Nikon Z8 (Body Only) is priced at RM18,388, with prices going up to RM22,608 with the inclusion of a 24-120mm f/4 kit lens. For further information regarding the Nikon Z8, visit Nikon Asia’s official website.
