What’s this Dynamic Island-like feature on the realme C55?

By Timothy Teoh March 17, 2023

realme has been the talk of the town lately after they introduced the realme C55 with what they call a ‘Mini Capsule.’ At first look, this capsule largely resembles the Dynamic Island found on the Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Keep in mind that the realme C55 is built to be a mid-ranger and not one that’s supposed to challenge the likes of the Apple iPhones. Which makes us wonder, just how ‘Dynamic Island’ is this Mini Capsule?

As far as first impressions go, they look really similar. Like the Dynamic Island, the Mini Capsule is located at the top of the display where the front camera is.

However, the C55 does not sport a pill-shaped cutout as seen in the Apple phones. Instead, the Mini Capsule seems to be solely an on-screen popup that expands and wraps around the punch-hole camera. Without the Mini Capsule, the C55 will look like any other smartphone.

According to realme, the Mini Capsule will smartly adapt to the display for notifications, and even has dynamic light animations. For now, the Mini Capsule displays a variety of information including battery levels, charging status, and data usage.

We can expect realme to continuously upgrade the Mini Capsule to incorporate more functions.

realme C55 will reach Malaysia soon

The realme C55 will launch in Malaysia soon, as it is apparently already recognized by SIRIM. For further details, we’ll have to rely on the C55 that’s been launched in Indonesia.

Once again, it’s worth noting that the realme C55 is built as an entry-level to lower mid-range device. Its display is a 6.72-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2400px) with 90Hz refresh rates.

You’ll get two colour choices to pick from: Rainy Night and Sunshower.

It uses a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, and two memory configurations: 6+128GB and 8+256GB, with storage expandable up to 1TB with a microSD. You’ll also have an additional 8GB of Dynamic RAM.

The C55 has a dual camera system which features the main 64MP AI camera. The front camera on the other hand is an 8MP selfie snapper.

You’ll get a 5,000mAh battery with 33W SUPERVOOC charging on the realme C55. It will utilize Realme UI 4.0 based on Android 13.

As for the price, we’ll have to wait and see till its official unveiling. The C55 launched in Indonesia starting at IDR2,499,000. As a ballpark figure, we can expect the realme C55 to be priced in the range of RM799 – RM1,099 in Malaysia.
