A new ‘mid-range king’ has landed onto Malaysian shores in the form of the Redmi Note 12 Series. The series will consist of three offerings, the Redmi Note 12, the Redmi Note 12 5G, and the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G.

The spotlight undoubtedly falls on the premium Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, which boasts a new 200MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). This surpasses the non-OIS 108MP main camera on last year’s Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G.

Ultimately, the Redmi Note 12 Series aims to provide flagship quality cameras to the mid-range segment.

You can pre-order the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G in a 8GB/256GB configuration for RM1,599. The Redmi Note 12 5G also comes in a single 8GB/256GB variant, priced at RM1,099.

Starting first with the premium model, Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G will run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 1080 processor. You will have up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with no option to expand via a microSD card.

Other than that, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G will come with WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support, as well as stereo speakers.

The main differentiator between the three models lies in the camera. While all three will sport a triple camera system, the premium Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G is the model that will posses the 200MP main camera with OIS. Working alongside it is an 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro camera.

At the front is a punch hole 16MP selfie camera.

The Redmi Note 12 on the other hand has a decent 50MP main camera. Similarly, it is flanked by an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro camera.

The 5G model Redmi Note 12 5G consists of a similar camera makeup, the only difference being the slightly lesser 48MP main camera.

Both the Redmi Note 12 and Redmi Note 12 5G share the same 13MP front camera.

The Redmi Note 12 5G and Redmi Note 12 will use a different processor altogether. The Redmi Note 12 5G will utilize the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor with 5G capabilities. You will get up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Redmi Note 12 on the other hand will use the Snapdragon 685 and comes in two configurations: a 6GB/128GB a 8GB/128GB version.

For both models, storage is expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card.

Their displays are very much the same as its more premium sibling with a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, but it misses out on the curved screen. It is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Redmi Note 12 5G in Forest Green

In terms of connectivity, the Redmi Note 12 5G and Redmi Note 12 supports WiFi 5. However, the latter only supports Bluetooth 5.0, while the former is able to support Bluetooth 5.1.

All three models share the same 5,000mAh battery capacity, but with differing fast charging capabilities. The Redmi Note 12 5G and Redmi Note 12 pushes up to 33W fast charging. Leading the race though is the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, which packs an impressive 120W HyperCharge. To ensure safe charging, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G has a dedicated chipset that manages charging efficiency and temperature control.

All models have side-mounted fingerprint sensor, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Renowned audio brand Bowers & Wilkins has brought a refreshed catalogue of true wireless earbuds and headphones to Malaysians. The new inclusions feature the upgraded Pi7 S2 and Pi5 S2 true wireless buds, as well as two special designs of the Px8 over-ear headphones.

According to Bowers & Wilkins, the upgrades across the two true wireless earbuds will see improvements in connectivity, battery performance, and user experience. Additionally, each will come in new premium finishes that lend a touch of elegance to the ear buds.

Among some of the upgrades on the Pi7 S2 and Pi5 S2 is a redesigned antenna that lengthens the bluetooth connectivity range up to 25m. This will give greater freedom to roam further without worrying about an awkward loss of connection.

Both true wireless earbuds now also has extensive battery life with up to 5 hours listening time. With the addition of the charging case, the Pi7 S2 now gives a total battery lifespan of 16 hours, while the Pi5 S2 totals up to 19 hours.

The first is a Px8 McLaren Edition which celebrates the McLaren Artura, McLaren’s own hybrid supercar. To match the iconic colours of McLaren, Bowers & Wilkins designed the Px8 to incorporate the Papaya Orange iconic to McLaren racing cars.

The second special edition release is one that commemorates the 007 blockbuster franchise. For this version, Bowers & Wilkins decks the Px8 in an elegant Midnight Blue. According to Bowers & Wilkins, the colour was inspired by the dinner jacket worn by Mr. Bond himself in his first silver screen debut.
