MCMC explains why U Mobile was selected to implement Second 5G Network
Following public scrutiny, MCMC has released a statement explaining their decision in delegating U Mobile Sdn Bhd to implement the nation’s Second 5G Network.
According to MCMC, the decision took into account a combination of factors, including U Mobile’s business and technical plans, customer track records, and performance in infrastructure initiatives. MCMC also highlighted the telco’s contribution to the government’s National Digital Network (JENDELA) Phase 1 programme and 4G Upgrading projects.
Moreover, MCMC states that they will be able to enforce regulatory responsibilities in accordance with compliance requirements.
It should be noted that U Mobile is permitted to collaborate with other partners, subject to MCMC approval. In its official statement expressing gratitude to MCMC, the telco conveyed willingness to work with the likes of Telekom Malaysia and CelcomDigi.
“We are excited to collaborate with various stakeholders, including MCMC and other telecommunications companies such as CelcomDigi and Telekom Malaysia to deliver world-class 5G-Advanced services to consumers,” the statement read.
MCMC reiterates that it will continue to monitor quality standards among all service providers to ensure a robust and reliable telecommunications landscape for Malaysia.
