Maxis eKelas Offers Free Education to All Students, Regardless of Which Telco They Use

What is Maxis eKelas?
Launched in 2016, eKelas is Maxis’ flagship community program that provides free access to digital learning content for Malaysian students. It aims to make quality education accessible and free to all learners, as well as to foster a fun and engaging learning experience.
The best part is, the eKelas initiative is not restricted to just Maxis users—it’s open to all Malaysians, regardless of which telco you are subscribed to.
The free digital learning programme provides online lessons for students from Standard 1 to Form 5, with a focus on five critical subjects: English, Science, Mathematics, Bahasa Melayu, and Sejarah. Depending on the academic year, the modules also include subjects like Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
More than just an academic tool, eKelas also offers non-academic content that students can explore to broaden their skills beyond what’s taught in the school syllabus. This includes topics related to STEM, technology, cybersecurity, content creation, and more.
According to the eKelas homepage, the program has impacted 75,000 students, teachers, and parents, and has benefited 2,000 schools across Malaysia.
How does Maxis eKelas work?
Maxis eKelas can be accessed via a web browser at ekelas.com.my, or through the Maxis eKelas app available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
You’ll need to register an account to log in. Once registered, you will get full access to the entire learning module in the app. Remember, this is a completely free initiative – there’s no need to pay for certain features or unlock specific modules. Everything on the app is free for students.
Once inside, students can select the academic year they are in (from Standard 1 to Form 5) and head over to the Module tab to view the subjects they want to study. Upon selecting a subject, a list of chapters will appear, and students can choose which chapter they would like to revise.
Lessons are taught through a series of videos and tutorials that can be watched directly within the app. Students can also bookmark lessons to access them conveniently later on.
In addition to lessons, students can test their knowledge by doing quizzes under the Kuiz tab. The correct answers will be shown so students can review their performance.
Should students want to explore topics beyond the school syllabus, they can simply view the Explore Skills section under the same Module tab. Here, students can learn about topics such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, content creation, and even animation and game development.
In an era where education is highly valued, Maxis eKelas plays a crucial role in making quality education accessible to all Malaysians, regardless of economic background. The telco has also recently expanded the eKelas programme to include an 18-month initiative called Menuju Gemilang 2025, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
The programme aims to support academically capable students from the B40 community in preparing for their SPM exams. A total of 240 students in Form 4 and Form 5 were selected, each receiving a refurbished laptop that they may keep upon successful completion of the programme.
