iQOO 15 Leaks Show Colour-Changing Back and RGB Lights, Will Feature Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

vivo sub-brand iQOO is preparing the runway for its gaming flagship, the iQOO 15, which is set to arrive sometime in Q4. Already, we’re seeing leaks about what the phone entails—most notably its design and specs.

Leaked promotional posters have hinted that the iQOO 15 will feature a few aesthetic gimmicks, the most intriguing of which is a colour-changing back panel that shifts between neutral silver hues and red, depending on the angle.

The other light show supposedly comes in the form of RGB lights around the camera housing. This time, it looks like the lighting is emanating from the bottom of the housing, as opposed to the rims. To jog your memory, the iQOO 13 featured what they dubbed ‘Floating Lights’ along the camera rim—which, in my opinion, was underwhelming as it made the phone look almost toy-like. I’m just hoping the new RGB placement will do it justice this time around.

Moving on to hardware, the iQOO 15 will be among the first devices to introduce Qualcomm’s latest chipset: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This will succeed the Snapdragon 8 Elite and will likely be the leading flagship SoC for most next-gen Android phones.

You can expect a 6.85″ AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution and 6,000 nits peak brightness. Not much is expected to change in the camera department, with the phone retaining the main, telephoto, and ultra-wide array.

Battery life hasn’t been confirmed yet, but leaks suggest capacity could range between 7,000mAh and 8,000mAh—potentially the new norm next year. Supporting this is 100W wired charging and support for wireless charging.

The iQOO 15 is expected to launch in October this year, with its home country, China, being the first to receive it. Seeing how its predecessor, the iQOO 13, launched in Malaysia around December, it’s highly likely we’ll see it arrive around the same time this year too.
