iPhone Fold Rumoured to Have Titanium and Aluminium Frame

By Timothy Teoh October 9, 2025

Although still unconfirmed by the company, multiple reports and leaks point to a foldable Apple device seemingly on the horizon. Based on a leaked roadmap, a foldable iPhone is expected to debut as early as next year, reportedly in the second half of 2026, alongside the refreshed iPhone 18 models.

We are still about a year away, but rumors are rife as to what Apple’s first contender in the foldable segment will look like. We don’t have renders yet, but according to MacRumors, an investor note shared by analyst Jeff Pu suggests that the iPhone Fold’s frame will be constructed from a hybrid mix of titanium and aluminum.

This slightly differs from other reports, namely from Ming-Chi Kuo, who earlier this year stated that Apple would opt for a full titanium frame for its foldable. He also mentioned that the phone’s hinges would be made of stainless steel and titanium, with liquid metal making an appearance in certain components.

Either way, it seems like titanium will be the mainstay on the iPhone Fold, which makes sense given how the all-titanium-framed iPhone Air passed multiple bend tests, including those by the notorious JerryRigEverything.

It’s also plausible that Apple will employ the same ingenuity it used to slim down the iPhone Air to just 5.5mm and integrate it into the fold.

As with most iPhone launches, it will only be a matter of time before leaks and renders begin surfacing, even before the official launch. For now, though, things are still very much up in the air as to what the iPhone Fold will bring.
