The iPhone Air is Officially Apple’s Thinnest iPhone; Price Starts at RM4,999 in Malaysia
After months of speculation, the iPhone Air (note: not the iPhone 17 Air as many had predicted) has finally made its long-awaited global debut. This is the thinnest iPhone ever developed, measuring a slim 5.6mm and weighing just 165g.
Despite its seemingly fragile form, Apple assures that its titanium build has passed stringent durability tests. Plus, the phone is protected by Ceramic Shield on both the rear panels and front display.
While we’re on displays, the iPhone Air features a 6.5″ Super Retina XDR display. Like the base iPhone 17, it also gets the ProMotion treatment, enabling adaptive refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz.
Although this is the lightest model in the series, it is by no means a ‘Lite’ model in the conventional sense. In fact, the iPhone Air runs on the A19 Pro chip – the same as its series-topping Pro and Pro Max siblings. The A19 Pro chip features 6 CPU cores and 5 GPU cores, built with neural accelerators for quicker AI processing. Additionally, the iPhone Air integrates Apple’s latest C1X modem, which promises not only faster speeds but also more efficient power management.
This is crucial, as thinner phones often come with a compromise in battery life. Nevertheless, Apple claims the iPhone Air provides 27 hours of video playback on its own. An external MagSafe battery can be attached to give a combined total of 40 hours of video playback.
As for cameras, the iPhone Air features a 48MP Fusion Camera System, which also integrates a 12MP 2x telephoto lens. On the front is the same 18MP Center Stage front camera found on the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models.
Interestingly, all models of the iPhone Air will support only eSIM globally.
The iPhone Air comes in four colors: Sky Blue, Light Gold, Cloud White, and Space Black.
iPhone Air price in Malaysia
The iPhone Air will be available for pre-orders in Malaysia starting 12 September at 8 PM. It will be available in stores starting 19 September.
The iPhone Air will be available in three storage variants in Malaysia: 256GB for RM4,999, 512GB for RM5,999, and 1TB for RM6,999.
Pre-orders can be made on Apple Malaysia’s official website on the specified date. Alternatively, you can always head to the Apple Store at The Exchange TRX anytime after 19th September.
