Apple has officially rolled out the red carpet for its iPhone 17 lineup, with the series boasting major redesigns and upgrades across the board. Surprisingly, there wasn’t much talk about new Apple Intelligence features, which could be a telltale sign of where Apple currently stands in the AI race.

Back to the phones, the iPhone 17 retains the same design as its predecessor, with the dual vertical lens and rear panel seemingly unchanged. However, it does come with a fresh coat of paint, now available in Lavender, Mist Blue, Black, White, and Sage.

Aesthetics aside, the iPhone 17 is powered by the A19 chip, Apple’s all-new 3nm silicon, which boasts a 16-core Neural Engine dedicated to supporting Apple Intelligence. It also includes 6 CPU cores and 5 GPU cores, promising greater performance compared to the previous iteration.

One of the biggest upgrades can be found in the display department. While it retains its 6.3″ Super Retina XDR display, the iPhone 17 now gets the long-awaited ProMotion treatment. This means we finally see adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz for the first time on a base iPhone model. There’s also a layer of anti-reflective coating, which, along with an improved 3,000-nit peak outdoor brightness, should enhance outdoor visibility.

Moreover, the phone is protected by Apple’s latest Ceramic Shield 2, which they claim offers three times better scratch resistance.

Batteries, too, see significant improvement, with the iPhone 17 supporting up to 30 hours of video playback. For the record, that’s 8 hours more than the iPhone 16.

In terms of cameras, there’s not much movement here, with the iPhone 17 maintaining the 48MP Fusion main camera and 12MP telephoto with 2x zoom setup. What’s different, though, is the revamped front camera sensor, which allows users to take landscape selfies while holding the phone vertically.

iPhone 17 price in Malaysia

Apple has completely removed the 128GB configurations from the entire iPhone 17 range. The iPhone 17 comes in only 256GB and 512GB configurations, priced at RM3,999 and RM4,999, respectively.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 17 start on 12th September at 8PM in Malaysia, with in-store availability beginning on 19th September 2025. Pre-orders can be made on Apple Malaysia’s official website on the specified date. Alternatively, you can always head to the Apple Store at The Exchange TRX anytime after 19th September.
