1. Facetime
Facetime receives a much needed upgrade to keep up with the growing demand for virtual means of staying connected with loved ones.
SharePlay
With SharePlay, you can now keep FaceTime conversations going as you watch TV programmes and movies, listen to music or share your screen with SharePlay. It’s an entirely new way to have experiences with family and friends, no matter the distance.
Notes:
Users with non-Apple devices can join using the latest version of Chrome or Edge. Sending video requires H.264 video encoding support. Some shared content may require a subscription to view.
Spatial audio
With this feature, individuals on a virtual call will feel ever more present. Individual voices will now sound like they’re coming from the direction in which each person is positioned on your screen, helping conversations flow more naturally.
Notes:
Requires iPhone with A12 Bionic and later.
FaceTime links
You can now send friends and family a link to connect on FaceTime — even if they’re using Windows or Android. And it’s still end-to-end encrypted, so your call is as private and secure as any other FaceTime call.
This is a much needed improvement to make scheduling of FaceTime calls convenient.
3. Memoji Customizations
Now you can choose outfits for your Memoji and express yourself with new stickers. Represent your look and style with multicoloured headwear. And accessibility customisations now include cochlear implants, oxygen tubes and soft helmets.
4. Live Text Improvements
Live Text intelligently unlocks rich and useful information in images, so you can make a call, send an email or look up directions with just a tap on the highlighted text in a photo or directly while in camera mode.
In addition, Live Text understands seven different languages: English, Chinese, French, Italian, German, Portuguese and Spanish. And with system‑wide translation, you can simply tap and translate.
