Introducing the LG OLED Flex, a 42″ screen with up to 20 levels of curvature
LG has released their latest innovation in the form of the LG OLED Flex. This is a 42″ OLED screen built with a staggering 20 levels of curvature. Although tagged as a ‘TV’ on LG’s official website, much of the OLED Flex’s specs seems geared towards it being a monitor.
In fact, many of the specs indicates that the OLED Flex is best used as an immersive screen for gaming. Here’s what you need to know about the LG OLED Flex.
LG 42″ OLED Flex Specs
Versatility is in your hands with the LG OLED Flex. You can choose between the entire 42″ cinematic span of a flat screen TV, or cocoon yourself in the enveloping wrap of the maximum 20-level 900R curvature.
You can control the curvature via presets on your remote control.
The LG OLED Flex gives you flexibility not just in terms of screen curve, but also in screen tilting. Depending on your preferred angle, you can choose to tilt the screen 10° upward, or 5° downward. The height of the screen is also adjustable to a leeway of 140mm.
The LG OLED Flex is more than just a 42″ showpiece for your living room or gaming setup. It packs a 3840 x 2160 resolution as well as a refresh rate that goes up to 120Hz. Furthermore, a 0.1ms response time eliminates any perceivable delay in gameplay.
In-game action now goes beyond the screen thanks to the OLED Flex’s Fusion Lighting backlight technology. Select from 5 lighting modes that will illuminate the rear of your screen, granting added atmosphere as you game.
Multi-View Mode on the other hand allows you to view content from two separate sources simultaneously so you can game while keeping tabs on your favourite team’s scoreline.
Additionally, the display utilizes Super Anti Reflection (SAR) technology to reduce any glares from bright lights.
Whether you’re using it as a home entertainment screen or gaming monitor, the 40W speakers at the front of the LG OLED Flex will impress. Not just in volume, but in audio immersion. This is the work of the Dolby Atmos surround sound, which brings on-screen action all around you.
You’ll also have the benefit of a built-in echo cancelling mic so you won’t need to be too dependent on mic headphones.
The OLED Flex is powered by an α9 Gen5 AI Processor 4K, while the operating system for the smart TV uses webOS. It supports Wifi6 and Bluetooth 5.0. You will have 4x 2.1 HDMI ports and 3x USB ports, all of which are located on a panel at the side of the screen.
Pricing
The LG OLED Flex is now available for pre-order in Malaysia at RM13,199. You can purchase it at LG’s Official Shopee and Lazada shops. According to the Lazada page, you can expect your OLED Flex to ship in about 30 days after pre-order.
