HUAWEI WATCH 5 With New X-TAP Technology Launches in Malaysia, Starting at RM1,799
HUAWEI has just released a refreshed lineup of smartwatches in Malaysia. While the WATCH FIT 4 Series drew attention for its resemblance to the Apple Watch Ultra, the WATCH 5 also deserves a closer look.
Specifically, the WATCH 5’s multi-sensing X-TAP technology is a one-of-a-kind feature that improves the speed and accuracy of blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring. The X-TAP sensors, located at the side of the device, can measure the wearer’s SpO2 when the user places a fingertips on them. The fingertip, it seems, provides a more accurate reading than the wrist due to its stronger blood flow and thinner skin.
In some ways, the X-TAP functions as an easily accessible pulse oximeter.
That being said, the X-TAP also integrates electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG) for a more comprehensive health analysis. It also provides a summary health report where users can access key metrics such as heart rate variability (HRV) emotional wellbeing, and blood oxygen saturation.
X-TAP aside, the WATCH 5 now comes in two sizes: a 46mm model and a 42mm model. The former features a 1.5″ LTPO AMOLED display, while the latter has a 1.38″ LTPO AMOLED display. Both models are protected by Sapphire glass and offer a peak brightness of 3,000nits.
HUAWEI WATCH 5 price in Malaysia
The WATCH 5 comes in a few variations. The 46mm model is available in black with a 316L stainless steel case. There’s also a purple and silver option with a titanium body.
The 42mm model is available in white with a 316L stainless steel case, or in beige and sand gold with a 904L stainless steel case.
The HUAWEI WATCH 5 starts at RM1,799 for both the 46mm and 42mm model, and is now available for pre-order. Customers who place an RM50 deposit can enjoy a rebate of up to RM70. Additionally, early birds will receive a complimentary pair of FreeBuds 5 and a 3-month Health+ membership.
