HUAWEI Mate XT ULTIMATE DESIGN, the World’s First Tri-Fold Phone, Coming to Malaysia

By PriceShop News February 7, 2025

HUAWEI Malaysia has confirmed that the HUAWEI Mate XT ULTIMATE DESIGN, the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, will be launching in Malaysia. Initially unveiled in Shenzhen, China, it was unclear whether the device would make its way to local markets, but it is now set for an official launch on 18th February.

As expected from a tri-fold phone, the Mate XT ULTIMATE DESIGN features a three-panel design that unfolds into a nearly tablet-sized device. When fully expanded, it measures 10.2 inches, while the dual-unfolded mode brings it down to 7.93 inches. When completely folded, users will have a standard 6.41-inch smartphone display. The device’s operating system adapts seamlessly, adjusting content and interface elements depending on whether it is used in single-screen, dual-screen, or full-screen mode.

Durability is a common concern with foldable devices, and HUAWEI claims that the phone’s ultra-high-strength steel hinges are built to withstand frequent folding and unfolding. A brief hands-on experience with the device suggests that it feels solid and well-built, though its long-term durability remains to be seen.

More details, including pricing and storage configurations, will be revealed during the official launch on 18th February.

Nothing confirms Phone (3a) Series launch in March

By Timothy Teoh February 03, 2025

After some cryptic teasing last week, Nothing has confirmed that its Power in Perspective event slated for 4th March will see the launch of the Phone (3a) Series.

To recap, Nothing exhibited an ambiguous sliver of light encircling an oblong and circular module. Comments are rife with speculation as to what it actually is, with some claiming they are new buttons and others quick to point out its resemblance to a triple camera setup.

We are yet to be enlightened, but Nothing has confirmed that the Phone (3a) Series will indeed launch on the assigned date.

Nothing launched the Phone (2a) at about the same time last year at a price of RM1,699, followed by the Phone (2a) Plus packed with a better chipset and front camera in the third quarter at RM1,999.

The Phone (3a) Series will likely be the focal point of the launch, though it’s unclear if Nothing has anymore products lined up for the event. Remember, we still have no clue what the cryptic light module is, nor are we absolutely sure that it’s part of the Phone (3a) Series.

On a side note, still no sight of the flagship Phone (3) yet.
