Did You Know You Can Get a Travel eSIM via Touch ‘n Go eWallet? Here’s How to Set It Up
Touch ‘n Go eWallet now makes it easy to stay connected when travelling abroad with its Travel eSIM feature. Instead of buying a physical SIM card or worrying about roaming, you can now activate data plans digitally for over 190 countries — all through your TNG app.
Here’s the step-by-step guide on how to purchase and manage a Travel eSIM using the TNG eWallet app.
How to Buy a Travel eSIM on Touch ‘n Go eWallet
Step 1: Launch the TNG eWallet app
Open your Touch ‘n Go eWallet and tap on “More” (three-dot icon) at the bottom right of the home screen.
Step 2: Go to GOtravel > Travel eSIM
Under the “All Services” menu, tap on the “GOtravel” category, then select “Travel eSIM.”
Step 3: Select your destination
Choose your travel destination by tapping “Select country” from the dropdown list. You can also browse popular destinations like Australia, Japan, or the Asia region.
Step 4: Choose your data plan
Select your data plan. Each plan will show data allowance, validity period, and price. For example:
- 1GB for RM2.40 (valid for 7 days)
- 3GB for RM6.90 (valid for 30 days)
- 10GB for RM15.50 (valid for 30 days)
You can also select your travel purpose (optional): Vacation or Business.
Step 5: Review and pay
Enter your email address, review the plan details, and make payment using your TNG eWallet balance. The eSIM activation QR code will be sent to your email shortly after the transaction.
Step 6: Manage your eSIM
Once your purchase is confirmed, go to the “My eSIM” tab at the bottom of the screen to view your active and previous eSIMs.
Step 7: Activate when abroad
When you arrive at your destination, your eSIM will activate automatically as soon as it connects to a supported local mobile network. You can manage or top up from the “My eSIM” tab.
Things to Know Before You Buy
- Device compatibility: Your smartphone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. The app provides a compatibility checker.
- Data-only plans: These are data-only eSIMs, meaning you won’t receive a phone number. Use messaging apps like WhatsApp or Telegram for calls and texts.
- No refunds: TNG does not offer refunds for incorrect email entries or unsupported devices, so double-check before you pay.
- Top-ups available: If your data runs out, you can top up directly from the My eSIM tab instead of buying a new plan.
- Pre-purchase ready: You can buy your eSIM before your trip, and it will only activate once you arrive and connect to the local network.
