HONOR MagicBook Series 2021 with AMD available in Malaysia starting 1st October
HONOR Malaysia has just announced its latest MagicBook 14 & 15 (AMD) 2021 that will be powered the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor which consists of 6 CPU cores, 12 processing threads, and an integrated Vega-based Radeon RX graphics.
To avoid any confusion, the MagicBook 14 & 15 (AMD) are identical in its built and specification with exception to its display size. The MagicBook 14 features a 14-inch display while the 15 features a 15.6-inch display.
Both the 14 and 15-inch display are priced the same and do note that the 15.6-inch option does not come with a number pad.
It is also worth noting that this latest AMD version is also identical to the Intel i5-1135G7 version launched back in May which currently retails at around RM3,599. The Intel i5 variant however only comes with a 16+512GB option.

Aside from the change in processor to the latest AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with an integrated Vega-based Radeon RX graphics, all other built-specifications are identical to the i5 model as seen below.

Ryzen5 5500U vs Ryzen5 4600H vs Intel i5-1135G7
With the introduction of the latest MagicBook Ryzen 5 5500U model, interested buyers will now have to carefully decide which of the following models will serve them best.

Overall, while all three models offer similar performance, the MagicBook Pro and MagicBook (Intel) does outperform the MagicBook (AMD) thanks to its larger 16GB ram.
The Intel i5-1135G7 version excels in single-core performance while the Ryzen 5500U and 4600H outperforms it in various multicore benchmark tests. Additionally, the Ryzen5 4600H achieves better overall benchmark score compared to the Ryzen5 5500U in both single and multicore performance. [Full comparison: notebookcheck]
With that being said, the difference in performance is fairly minimal especially for casual usage. Rest assure that saving that extra RM300 – RM800 will not set you back too much in terms of performance.
Nevertheless, if budget permits, the additional 8GB ram on the HONOR MagicBook Pro and MagicBook (Intel) will definitely give you a nice incremental boost in performance.
