HONOR Magic V5 Confirmed for Malaysia, Could This Be the World’s Thinnest Foldable Smartphone?

It has been officially confirmed that the HONOR Magic V5 will be launching in Malaysia, continuing the brand’s pursuit of ultra-slim foldable smartphones. The device measures just 8.8mm when folded, making it the thinnest foldable smartphone in the world to date. This marks a 0.4mm reduction from its predecessor, the Magic V3, solidifying HONOR’s lead in foldable design engineering. In keeping with Chinese cultural norms, the company has skipped the number four in its naming convention.
HONOR Magic V5 Coming to Malaysia

The race to reduce foldable smartphone thickness has intensified in recent years. Earlier foldables were bulky compared to standard smartphones but the gap has since narrowed, especially with last year’s Magic V3. With the HONOR Magic V5, the thickness now rivals that of traditional slab smartphones, which typically range around 8mm. While no specific release date has been mentioned, we were told that it’s happening “very soon”, which likely points at an end-June to early-July launch window.
While HONOR has yet to reveal the full specifications, key details have surfaced through official announcements and leaks. The Magic V5 is expected to feature an 8-inch inner display and a 6.45-inch cover screen. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version chipset and will include a 6,100mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging. Promotional images from HONOR’s Chinese channels show the device in a gold color option with a textured spine design.
To support the rollout, HONOR has introduced a Beta Experience Program in Malaysia. Interested users can apply through the official HONOR Malaysia website for an opportunity to test the Magic V5 before its commercial release. Selected applicants will be contacted by HONOR representatives to participate in the program.
