January 4, 2024

After about a good 6 month since its initial release in China, the HONOR Magic V2 is finally set to make its way across the border to Malaysia. HONOR confirmed its imminent arrival via their social platforms on Facebook and Instagram yesterday.

Dubbed the ‘world’s thinnest and lightest inward foldable smartphone’, the Magic V2 is a slim 9.9mm in its folded form and only 4.7mm when unfolded, or in HONOR’s own words, “thin as 3 credit cards”. When it comes to weight, the device comes in only at 231g.

The Magic V2’s external display is a 6.43″ OLED screen with 2376x1060p resolution, 120Hz refresh rates and up to 2,500nits peak brightness. It opens up to reveal its larger 7.92″ internal OLED display with 2344x2156p resolution. Refresh rates are maintain at 120Hz, but peak brightness however only maxes at 1,600nits on the internal display.

On the screen-less back panel is a vertical triple camera setup. These consist of a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 20MP telephoto with 2.5x optical zoom. It has dual 16MP front cameras, one on the external display and another on the internal so selfies are accessible in both its folded and unfolded form.

The Magic V2 packs a 5,000mAh battery supporting 66W wired charging. HONOR says that it has folding lifespan of a whopping 400,000 folds.

One thing to keep in mind is that because the Magic V2 was released last year, it will come with Android 13 out of the box instead of the latest Android 14.

HONOR has not revealed the official date and price of the Magic V2 in Malaysia. But drawing estimates from its pricing in China, we can expect a ballpark figure of about RM5,999.
