chapter in its efforts to support greener mobility solutions. The move is part of Grab’s broader commitment to reduce its carbon footprint and align with the Malaysian government’s push towards sustainable transportation.

This new EV service is currently limited to airport transfers, specifically from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Passengers travelling from the airport can now book the new ‘EV Pickup’ option directly via the Grab app. Pick-ups are designated at Level 3, Door 4 of KLIA.

The fleet is made up of ten BYD M6 vehicles, which are fully electric and configured as seven-seater MPVs. The initiative is a joint effort between Grab Malaysia and several partners, including BYD Sime Darby Motors, Yinson GreenTech, and Power-Up Tech (P.UP).

Grab Malaysia’s director Rashid Shukor said, “We are proud to support Malaysia’s green mobility push with the introduction of an EV-only ride option for airport travellers. By prioritising routes with high visibility and demand such as KLIA, we aim to demonstrate the practicality and comfort of EVs, while driving greater awareness among consumers.”

Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who was present at the launch event, expressed support for the initiative. “The launch of this EV service demonstrates the ministry’s commitment to boosting the country’s transition towards a cleaner, more efficient and environmentally friendly transport system,” he said.
