Google Play Gift Cards to Be Removed from Shelves Starting 15 June 2025

Google Malaysia has announced that Google Play Gift Cards will no longer be available for purchase starting 15 June 2025. Customers must redeem their gift cards before this date and use any remaining Google Play Balance by 31 January 2026 to avoid losing the card’s value.

Google also reminds customers to update their payment method if they’ve set Google Play balance as their primary option, to avoid service disruptions. Google Play accepts other forms of payment, including e-wallets (Touch ‘n Go, Boost, Shopee Pay), credit card, mobile phone billing, FPX online banking, and cash payment.

Google did not explicitly state why they will be permanently taking their gift cards off the shelves, but it could be a measure to mitigate gift card scams.
