Google Pixel 10a now official, coming to Malaysia starting from RM2,299

Having teased it since earlier this month, the Google Pixel 10a is now finally official. The new premium midrange smartphone from the big G completes the Pixel 10 lineup that initially debuted late last year, but despite sporting the latest number in its name, it doesn’t really offer too much in terms of hardware upgrades.
Google Pixel 10a Malaysia pricing and availability

That being said, what may end up convincing customers to opt for the new Pixel 10a might be its lower price tag. Compared to the Pixel 9a from last year, the Pixel 10a starts at just RM2,299 for its base model with 128GB of storage, while for RM2,799 you get 256GB of storage instead. That means it’s RM400 cheaper across the board compared to the Pixel 9a, though of course you can now find the Pixel 9a at heavily discounted prices these days.

Nevertheless, for those of you keen on the Pixel 10a, it will be making its way to Malaysia on 5 March, and will be available in Lavender, Fog, Obsidian and Berry colourways. You’ll be able to find it via the Google Store website as well as authorised retailers such as Urban Republic, TMT and Senheng along with partnered telcos such as Maxis, CelcomDigi and U Mobile.
Google Pixel 10a specs and features

You could be forgiven for thinking that the Pixel 10a is basically the ‘Pixel 9b’, as they pretty much look identical but for the flush rear camera module on the back. The aluminum body houses a 6.3-inch Actua OLED display, pushing an FHD+ resolution with an up to 120Hz refresh rate, up to 3000nits of peak brightness and has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 7i over it for scratch resistance. While the screen size remains the same, it does get brighter now and has a more durable glass over it compared to its predecessor.

Under the hood, the Pixel 10a comes with a Tensor G4 system-on-chip, with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. That means that in terms of raw performance, there’s nearly no upgrade compared to the Pixel 9a here. You do at least get Android 16 out of the box here with 7 years of updates, as well as a number of Pixel 10 series-exclusive features such as Gemini Live, Camera Couch, Add Me and Auto Best Take.

The Pixel 10a also comes with an identical camera setup as before, meaning you’ll be needing those AI-enhanced software features to really see any difference in your photography game. The cameras include a main 48MP, f/1.7 shooter, a 13MP, f/2.2 ultrawide and a 13MP, f/2.2 selfie shooter. Keeping it powered meanwhile is a 5,100mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging and 10W wireless charging that Google says is good for over 30 hours.
Other features of note include an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, stereo speakers, support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 6.0 wireless connectivity as well as a Satellite SOS feature that unfortunately won’t be available in Malaysia for now.
