The government will provide free education to 5,800 students studying at IPTA institutions from low-income households as part of an initiative under Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN). This was announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during the tabling of Budget 2026.

According to Anwar, the government has allocated RM120 million to fund the free education initiative.

Alongside this, the Prime Minister also announced a second round of RM100 SARA aid in February 2026, which will be channeled to 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above.

Additionally, Malaysians will enjoy a 50% discount on tolls for two days in conjunction with this year’s upcoming Deepavali celebrations.
