Dyson Has Headphones Now? Here’s What You Need to Know About the Dyson OnTrac

By Timothy Teoh May 27, 2025

Dyson has established quite a name for itself, hasn’t it? Their vacuums and air purifiers are the hallmark appliances of every homeowner, and their hairdryers a symbol of a man’s commitment to his lady…especially on Valentine’s.

Those are what Dyson is best known for, but did you know they also have high-fidelity headphones? And no – we’re not talking about the 2022 Dyson Zone with its bizarre mouth visor that supposedly doubled as an air purifier.

We’re talking proper earphones this time.

The Dyson OnTrac received its global launch last year, but the headphones only made their way to Malaysia this month – almost a year after its initial release.

The headphones look just as exclusive as the brand’s heralded marquee products, and they’re priced that way too. With a RM2,599 price tag, the Dyson OnTrac is a more premium option compared to the newly released Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones which retail at RM2,099.

Credit where it’s due: the Dyson headphones do look high-end in both the CNC Copper and CNC Black/Nickel colourways. The interesting thing here is that you have the option to mix and match the ear cushions and earcups with a variety of colours, all displayed through a visualiser on the website that will show you how your combination will look. These additional ear cushions and outer caps are sold separately at a cost of RM259 each.

That being said, the Dyson OnTrac makes for a comfortable fit. The microfibre ear cushions and high-rebound foam ensure your ears are not squished, while the aluminium outer caps provide durability. The aluminium build is perhaps what contributes to its 451g weight, far heavier than the 254g of Sony’s WH-1000XM6.

When it comes to sound, the OnTrac headphones feature 40mm, 16-ohm neodymium drivers. Dyson says the sound range of 6Hz to 21kHz exceeds that of conventional headphones, which in turn promises greater clarity in audio.

You also get 40dB of noise cancellation, which can be toggled via the MyDyson app. On that note, the app also allows access to three preset EQ levels: Bass Boost, Enhanced, and Neutral. You can also monitor in-ear and external volume levels, highlighting potentially harmful noise exposure, all displayed through real-time reports in the app.

As for battery life, the Dyson OnTrac boasts up to 55 hours of runtime. Dyson claims a 10-minute charge provides 2.5 hours of listening, while a 30-minute charge gives 9 hours.

Will the Dyson OnTrac be on track to outperform its competitors? Time will tell, I suppose. Until then, the Dyson OnTrac is available for purchase at Dyson Experience stores and online via Dyson Malaysia’s official website.
