No MyKad Hassle When You Claim RON95 Subsidy Using TNG eWallet — Here’s How
Big news this week is the RON95 fuel subsidy under the BUDI MADANI RON95 initiative announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The initiative allows Malaysians with a valid driving license to enjoy subsidized RON95 fuel at RM1.99 per litre, down from RM2.05 per litre.
While the process of claiming the subsidized fuel is still somewhat unclear — especially regarding the MyKad requirement — Touch ‘n Go is at least making it easier by allowing you to pay for BUDI95 through the TNG eWallet app. The best part is, it doesn’t require MyKad verification every time you pump, so you can leave it in your pocket.
Before claiming BUDI MADANI RON95 with TNG eWallet…
Before you can begin paying for BUDI95 through TNG eWallet, you’ll first need to have the TNG eWallet app installed.
Not only that, you must verify your eWallet account via eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) verification. To verify your account, tap the circular “Profile” icon at the top right of the homepage and click “Verify Account,” then follow the steps. eKYC is crucial at this stage as it requires you to verify your MyKad with TNG eWallet — which in turn eliminates the need to present your MyKad when claiming BUDI95 at petrol pumps.
How to claim BUDI MADANI RON95 using TNG eWallet.
Once eKYC verification is completed, you can then check your BUDI95 eligibility and allocation in the app. This is done by tapping the BUDI95 icon on the home screen. If you don’t see it, tap “More” and type “BUDI95” in the search bar.
After confirming your eligibility, you can head to your nearest petrol station to claim BUDI95 via TNG eWallet.
Step 1
At the petrol pump, launch BUDI95 in the app and tap “Buy Fuel.” The app will automatically detect your location, but you must ensure that your phone’s location setting is turned on.
Step 2
Once your station is detected, enter the pump number and key in the fuel amount you want to purchase. You’ll be paying via TNG eWallet, so make sure you have sufficient eWallet balance!
A QR code will then be generated upon successful payment.
Step 3
Once you have the QR code, head to the station counter for the staff to scan and unlock the pump — and then you can begin fueling your car.
Touch ‘n Go assures that any unused fuel balance will be refunded to your eWallet within minutes.
Note: At the time of writing, the BUDI95 feature hasn’t been integrated into the editor’s TNG eWallet app yet. It should be up and running by the time BUDI RON95 subsidy officially launches.
The subsidized RON95 rates will be available starting on 27 September to soldiers and police.
B40 households and M40 group receiving Sumbangan Tunai Rumah (STR) will be able to enjoy the subsidy starting 29 September.
The subsidized RON95 will be extended to all other eligible Malaysians starting 29 September.
