Chinese New Year: 50% discount for tolls on 14 and 15 February

The government has approved a 50% toll discount for two days in conjunction with Chinese New Year 2026, according to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
The discount will be effective from 12:01am on Saturday, Feb 14, until 11:59pm on Sunday, Feb 15, and will cost the government RM19.5 million in compensation to highway concessionaires. The decision was approved during the Cabinet meeting held on Friday, as part of efforts to support unity and ease the cost of travel during festive periods.
According to the minister, the toll discount is expected to help reduce travel expenses for motorists returning to their hometowns, going on holiday, and travelling ahead of Ramadan.
The discount applies to:
- Class 1 (private) vehicles at all toll plazas
- Class 2 vehicles at the Penang Bridge
However, the discount does not apply to toll plazas at Malaysia’s borders, including:
- Sultan Iskandar CIQ Complex on the North–South Expressway (PLUS)
- Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza on the Malaysia–Singapore Second Link (LINKEDUA)
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys ahead, follow traffic rules, and use apps such as MyPLUS-TTA and TuJu Highway Navigation for recommended travel times. Real-time traffic updates are also available via the Malaysian Highway Authority’s official channels or the Traffic Management Centre. Also, if you’re gonna use the Smart Lane, be courteous by giving your signal first and maintain within the speed limits.
