The annual CES has returned to Las Vegas for the year 2022, the event taking place from 5th to 7th January.

Unlike CES 2021, CES 2022 will be held in a hybrid mode where physical booths are set up, and keynotes and conferences are streamed online.

From gaming laptops with the latest hardware, to autonomous tractors, here are our top picks of the most intriguing gadgets and devices unveiled on day 1 of CES 2022.

Keynote Presentation: Samsung

Samsung's "together for tomorrow" vision
Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO and Head of DX (Device eXperience) Division at Samsung, elaborating more on the “Together for tomorrow” vision, allowing people to customise their tech to better suit their lifestyle.

The first day of CES 2022 opened with a keynote presentation from Samsung, unveiling their plans for the year 2022.

The gist of the presentation is Samsung heading towards a more sustainable direction this year, minimising e-waste by reducing, reusing, and recycling.

“Together for tomorrow” vision was also introduced, aimed at helping redefine people’s relationship with technology. IoT has been integrated into Samsung’s products to allow consumers to customise them according to their lifestyle.

Enough about Samsung’s vision and mission, let’s take a look at some of the interesting products unveiled on the first day of CES.

Top 4 interesting products

1. Odyssey Ark

55-inch screen monitors purposed for gaming, rotated both vertically and horizontally.

The Odyssey Ark is a 55-inch gaming screen designed to hopefully replace the multiple monitor setups. Its 55 inches of screen – yes, the size of a regular living room TV – gives the user ample space to open as many tabs or windows in one go.

Samsung’s new Multiview option allows the user to adjust the desired display structure. Gamers no longer need a dual monitor setup and spreadsheet users can now open multiple documents on 1 screen.

55 inches of screen comes at a price. Although Samsung has not officially revealed it yet, it is expected to fall within 4 digits and this estimation is in USD currency.

2. Asus ROG

ASUS ROG Flow Z13: The world’s fastest gaming tablet

Of course, this list will include at least 1 laptop. ASUS ROG is releasing many updated versions of their existing laptops, with the latest hardware. Here are some examples of existing laptops with the latest hardware.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 AMD Ryzen 9 6000 series AMD Radeon RX6000s GPU
ASUS ROG Strix Scar i9-12900H NVIDIA GeForce RTX3080 TI GPU
ASUS ROG STRIX G AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX NVIDIA GeForce RTX3080 TI GPU
ASUS ROG Flow Z13 i9-12900HNVIDIA GeForce RTX3050 or RTX3050 Ti

ASUS ROG Flow Z13 is a gaming tablet able to support up to an i9-12900H processor, and a choice of NVIDIA GeForce RTX3050 or RTX3050 TI graphics card.

As a tablet, the mobility it provides allows for better cooling compared to traditional laptops; easing the problem of overheating whilst playing games.

3. Invoxia

Smart dog collar paired with app
Invoxia Smart Dog Collar: The most advanced biometric dog collar ever built

Something slightly different on this list is a product catered to our pets, a smart dog collar. It is a fitness tracker for dogs, measuring the dog’s heart rate and respiratory rate using miniature radar sensors.

It can also track your dog’s location by using Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth – perfect for mischievous dogs that love to run away. All the metrics and measurements can be seen on an app that pairs with this smart collar.

4. John Deere

Fully automated tractor, empty driver’s seat. The future of agriculture.

This last item is considered a consumer gadget but not everyone will need to use it. An autonomous tractor.

It is connected to John Deere Operations Center mobile, where users can gain access to live feed, image, data, and metrics. Farmers can also adjust the details of the tractor, for example, the depth or speed of the tractor.

Obviously, automating an agriculture tool is useful for farmers to reduce their labour hours and increase their productivity. With billions of mouths to feed around the planet, this type of automation will be needed sooner or later.
