CelcomDigi introduces PrivateSIM to help users keep their main number private
CelcomDigi has introduced a new PrivateSIM option designed to safeguard customers’ personal mobile number against unnecessary exposure and privacy breaches. The PrivateSIM feature provides customers with a dedicated second number, which is activated as an eSIM add-on.
CelcomDigi cites a few ways the new PrivateSIM feature can keep customers’ digital activities safer and more private, including receiving One-Time Passwords (OTPs) from banks and e-wallets without needing to share their personal number.
Additionally, users can shop online or sign up for social media accounts using the PrivateSIM number, removing the risk of having their personal number bombarded with spam or promotional messages. CelcomDigi says that the PrivateSIM is also ideal for one-time use, such as signing up for free trials, promo codes, or temporary registrations.
In some ways, it’s like registering for a secondary email account for non-essential email subscriptions.
The PrivateSIM is available exclusively through CelcomDigi’s Online Store starting today. However, it is only available to customers who are subscribed to the latest CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G plans (Postpaid 5G 80 and above).
Do note that the PrivateSIM will count as one of the six available supplementary line slots and will cost RM10 per month.
